INTRODUCTION
Have you ever heard of a disease called ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis)? Designated as "intractable" by the Japanese government, it is a disease where the mind remains clear, while the body gradually loses its mobility. In the end, even the ability to move the eyelid is lost. Everyone is at risk of being afflicted with ALS. Regardless, a treatment or a cause is yet to be found. Putting an end to such a disease seems like an endless pursuit, but the END ALS team came up with the idea of running to get even a step closer to the goal. With the belief that running will lead to more donations, more research, and an end to ALS.What's END ALS RUN
This project is a digital run event hosted by the END ALS Association. Please run alongside us and help us put an end to ALS. Signing up is easy. All you have to do is log in to NIKE+ via the END ALS RUN site and run during the event period. Sponsor companies will donate 10 yen per every kilometer run to the END ALS Association. The distance you run will get us one step closer to ending ALS.The 1st END ALS RUN

- How to Participate
- Just log in to NIKE+ via the END ALS RUN site and run using the NIKE+ RUNNING APP during the event period.
- Donation
- According to the total distance run during the event period, 10 yen/km will be donated to the END ALS Association by DONATION SPONSORS.

Please run on my behalf to end ALS.
I can now only move my eyes. And I don't know how long even that's going to last.
Seeing me in this state, my friend in New York started END ALS RUN NYC.
From this year, we hope to make END ALS RUN global and hold it in Japan and the world with your help.
I know that beating ALS is now an almost impossible challenge. I'm always at the brink of giving up. But then, I think of you running with these shoes with ALS on your mind. Of you understanding more about the disease and it leading to more donations. I staunchly believe at the end of all this is the end of ALS.
Right now, I can only see you running and imagine myself running alongside. But I still have these sneakers on, so that I can start running right away, waiting for the moment that we put an end to ALS.

Hiro Fujita
Planning director, McCann EricksonALS patient. Born in 1979. Diagnosed with this disease designated as "intractable" by the Japanese government in November 2010. Currently, he continues to work from home. In order to spread awareness of ALS, Hiro wants to share his experience through his own words.
